The Blessing Tree

by Sarah on August 29th, 2010

One of the things that makes me most excited about this blog is the “meeting” of like-minded moms and I’m so pleased to say that I’ve met my first. Gauri commented on a few posts recently, and right away I could see that she’s someone who’s on the same page as me. Then I went to check out her blog, and our similarities were confirmed!

You have to have a read through The Blessing Tree, where Gauri chats about her thoughts and experiences as a mom. She also follows attachment parenting and continuum principles, and truth be told, is an inspiration to me.  I just love the post she wrote yesterday, about surrendering as a mom, about truly being there for your child.  I, like Gauri, ( and probably most other moms out there) go through moments where I feel “put out” because I’m up more than usual in the night, because Lily is waking up earlier than she used to or because I can’t get other things done like I did before. I try to escape to my laptop, or the tv, or the kitchen.  Gauri mentions books that have spoken about babies needing more attention and love at important developmental stages, and this is obviously what Lily is going through at the moment. Almost daily she’s reaching a milestone, squealing, clasping her hands, rolling to the side, grabbing objects, putting them in her mouth. And of course it makes sense that she will need more re-assurance from her mommy when things are changing so quickly in her little world.

Bond with your Baby, Find Yourself is only one of Gauri’s posts. There are tons more, all which ring true. Thank you for introducing yourself, Gauri, and thank you for The Blessing Tree. It truly is a blessing to other moms out there who believe that parenting is not simply another stage in life, that it’s part of our spiritual journey.

Heard about you through Gauri’s blog and I am loving connecting with parents about parenting as well. It’s so comforting/reassuring/inspiring to hear about other parents’ experiences on this incredible journey. Your blog is wonderful!
